Overview

Workers who use tobacco products, or who are employed in workplaces where smoking is allowed (e.g., casinos), are exposed to carcinogenic and other toxic components of tobacco and tobacco smoke. Your Workplace Wellness Program can contain measures that limit or eliminate illness-causing hazards that are created by tobacco consumption and use. Tobacco use has direct adverse effects on the health of workers who use tobacco products and workers who are exposed to secondhand smoke (SHS).
