Specific Workplace Conditions That Cause Slips, Trips
& Falls
Slips and trips may be caused by certain
factors in your workplace. These factors include:
- Environmental conditions. Workplace
environmental conditions are the surrounding physical conditions in which
an employee works and include conditions such as lighting, workplace noise
level, floor design, and degree of cleanliness.
- Equipment. Employees can
slip or trip over equipment that is not properly positioned or secured.
- Work practices. If work
practices, such as lifting and transporting materials from one location to
another, are performed without observing safety precautions, injuries can
result.
- Individual (human) factors, such as an individual's age, eyesight, and overall
health.
