Delivery employees are exposed to a number of hazards, including:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Slips, trips, and falls 
  • Heat and cold exposure
  • Heavy lifting  

Sprains & Strains

Delivery employees can avoid sprains and strains by:

  • Stacking heavier items on lower shelves, and lighter goods on top shelves.
  • Using handrails if traveling on stairs, avoiding undue speed, and carrying only items that the employees can safely see over. 
  • Stacking items used most frequently at a convenient waist level.
  • Getting help lifting heavy items.
