Slip, Trip & Fall Safety

Employees working in food manufacturing plants may be exposed to the following slip, trip, and fall hazards:

  • Slippery floors;
  • Boxes, electrical cords, and other equipment used in production;
  • Uncovered floor drains;
  • Stairways with missing rails or tread;
  • Elevated work surfaces without required guardrails or toe boards; and
  • Inadequate ladder safety precautions and training.

Slips, trips, and falls can cause back injuries, strains, sprains, contusions, and fractures—all of which lead to increased absenteeism and decreased productivity.
