Overview

Hotel employees are at risk of workplace violence committed by guests, trespassers, and other employees. To protect employee safety, employers should be familiar with the types and causes of workplace violence, which employees are vulnerable to workplace violence, and what steps employers can take to prevent and address instances of workplace violence.

Types of Workplace Violence

Workplace violence can be any act of violence against persons or property, threats, intimidation, harassment, or other inappropriate, disruptive behavior that causes fear for personal safety at the worksite. Workplace violence can range from verbal abuse to physical assaults and homicide, one of the leading causes of job-related deaths.
