Overview

According to OSHA, the most frequently found hazards in medical offices include:

  • Bloodborne pathogens
  • Hazardous chemicals
  • Ionizing radiation (x-rays)
  • Failure to provide safe and accessible building exits (and signage) in case of fire or other emergency; and  
  • Electrical safety issues caused by (among other things) faulty electrical equipment and wiring.    

Each of these hazards, along with potential risk reduction measures, is discussed below.
