Introduction to Safety 101

Hardhat and Other Equipment

Beyond being a requirement of federal and state law, a safe workplace is vital to the health of both businesses and employees. The health risks that are posed in workplaces such as construction sites, hospitals, restaurants, and manufacturing plants, are voluminous. To combat these risks, employers must develop certain workplace designs, procedures, and materials.

The federal agency tasked with promotion of workplace safety is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA performs its role by requiring workplace conditions, or the adoption or use of one or more practices, means, methods, operations, or processes, that are reasonably necessary or appropriate to provide safe or healthful employment and places of employment.
