IT Disaster Recovery Plans
Businesses use a variety of information
technology, including electronic mail, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP)
telephone systems, electronic data interchange (EDI), servers, desktop
computers, laptops, and wireless devices, to create, process, manage and
communicate information. It is critically important that your business have an information technology disaster recovery
plan (IT DRP) to restore these functions if they are disrupted by an
emergency.
The information
technology disaster recovery plan should be developed in conjunction with
the Business Continuity Plan.
Priorities and recovery time objectives for information technology should be
developed during the Business
Impact Analysis. Technology recovery strategies should be
developed to restore hardware, applications, and data in time to meet the needs
of the business recovery. Additionally, a plan for data backup and restoration of electronic information is essential.
