Emergency Evacuation Floor Plans

In the event of an emergency, it is critical that your employees, customers, and visitors know how to evacuate your facility. Placement of evacuation maps on your facility walls helps to ensure that employees know how to access the appropriate exit routes in the event an evacuation is called for.

Emergency Action Floor Plan Basics

Development of an emergency evacuation floor plan begins with identification of exit routes. Most employers create maps from floor diagrams with arrows that designate the exit route assignments. These maps should include locations of exits, assembly areas, and equipment (such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and spill kits) that may be needed in an emergency.
