Developing an Emergency Action Plan

When developing your emergency action plan, it is a good idea to think about all potential emergency situations and evaluate your workplace to determine whether it complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's emergency standards. The plan should:

  • Be tailored to your worksite (if an employer has more than one worksite, each site should have its own plan);
  • Have procedures for annual training, review, and updating; and
  • Include information about all potential sources of emergencies.
